Dhruv Ghanekar, born on 30 April 1974 in Mumbai, is a celebrated composer, guitarist, songwriter, producer, and one of India’s pioneering figures in fusion music. Trained in Hindustani classical vocal tradition, Dhruv began his career early—earning a nomination for a national award as a teenager for his acting in the film Susman. After mastering guitar, he co-founded the music production duo Smoke Music, scoring films like Bombay Boys and Drona and producing thousands of commercial jingles. He later co-founded the legendary music venue and label blueFrog, a catalyst for India’s independent music movement. Known for blending Indian folk, jazz, rock, and African influences, he released the critically acclaimed album Voyage, featuring global artists and earning awards for fusion excellence. In 2015, he composed for Coke Studio Season 4 and in 2019 was commissioned to score India’s largest-ever 3D musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. His compositions have appeared in films, international exhibitions, and immersive installations, making Dhruv a driving force in modern Indian music innovation.
