Richa Sharma (born 29 August 1974 in Faridabad, Haryana) is a soulful Indian playback and devotional singer celebrated for her emotive vocal style and classical training. Rooted in musical tradition, she was taught bhajans and classical music from childhood and trained under Pandit Aaskaran Sharma. She moved to Mumbai in 1994, performing bhajans and cover songs before her Bollywood debut in 1996. Her major breakthrough came with the A.R. Rahman–composed soulful track “Ishq Bina” from the film Taal, followed by iconic songs like “Mahi Ve” (Kaante), the emotionally powerful “Sajda” (My Name Is Khan), and the record-breaking bidaai track in Baabul. She won major honors including Best Female Playback Singer at the Zee Cine Awards for “Sajda,” and built a reputation for spiritual albums and devotional performances. A respected television music host and judge, Richa continues to perform live devotional and playback music with the same expressiveness that made her a cherished voice in Indian music.
