Vidyasagar (born 2 March 1963 in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh) is a legendary Indian composer, musician, singer, and conductor known as one of the finest melodic maestros in South Indian cinema. Raised in a musically inclined Telugu Brahmin family and trained in Carnatic vocals and Western classical instruments such as piano, guitar, and harmonium, he began his career assisting composers before making his debut with the 1989 Tamil film Poomanam. Widely nicknamed the “Melody King,” he has composed for over 225 films across Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi languages, delivering major hits like Ghilli, Anbe Sivam, Summer in Bethlehem, Meesha Madhavan, and Chandramukhi. He has received numerous honors including a National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards, Kerala State Awards, and multiple state awards.
