Sandeep “Sippy” Gill, born on 21 May 1982 in Rauli village, Moga, Punjab, is a versatile Punjabi singer, lyricist, composer, and actor renowned for his deep voice and raw, emotional storytelling. He released his debut Punjabi album “Jhumka” in 2006 and rose to fame with hits like “Insomnia,” “Bekadraa,” “Don’t Bark If You Can’t Bite,” “Vailpuna”, and “Broken Heart.” His energetic, folk-infused pop sound earned him the Mirchi Music Award for Album of the Year in 2015. As an actor, he made a memorable debut in Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De (2013) and later appeared in films such as Tiger, Marjaney, Jaddi Sardar, and Ghoda Dhai Kadam. Sippy has faced controversy, including legal cases in 2020 over lyrics promoting violence in his track “Gundagardi” and an assault allegation in 2023. A dog-lover and DIY music enthusiast, he built a strong digital presence and remains a commanding live performer in Punjabi music circles.
