M. G. Sreekumar, born on May 25, 1957, in Haripad, Kerala, is one of the most acclaimed playback singers in Indian cinema, especially known for his work in Malayalam films. Coming from a musically rich family—his father was a music composer, his brother M. G. Radhakrishnan a renowned music director, and his sister K. Omanakutty a Carnatic vocalist—Sreekumar was deeply rooted in classical music from a young age. He made his playback debut in the mid-1980s and quickly became the voice behind countless Malayalam film hits, particularly known for his long-standing association with actor Mohanlal. With a career spanning over three decades, he has recorded thousands of songs across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. He is a two-time National Award winner and has also received multiple Kerala State and Filmfare Awards.
