Govind Vasantha, born on October 29, 1988, in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur, Kerala, is an acclaimed Indian composer, singer, and violinist who primarily works in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He is a founding member of the popular musical band Thaikkudam Bridge, where he serves as both vocalist and violinist, and is celebrated for blending Indian classical and contemporary sounds. Govind rose to national prominence with his award-winning soundtrack for the Tamil film “96,” which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director – Tamil. Coming from a musically rich family—his father Peethambaran and uncle Gopinathan, a Carnatic musician, deeply influenced his early musical development—he chose to adopt his mother’s name, Vasantha, as a step toward promoting social equality. Beyond cinema, his musical versatility and advocacy for inclusivity have made him a respected figure in modern Indian music, both through his individual film work and as a driving force in Thaikkudam Bridge.
