Anand Bhate (born April 29, 1971 in Pune) is a distinguished Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana gharana, widely regarded as the torchbearer of the “Anand Gandharva” legacy. Trained initially under Chandrashekhar Deshpande, and later mentored by Pandit Yashwantrao Marathe and the legendary Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, he was conferred the title Anand Gandharva at just ten years old. A performer of rare melodic depth, he seamlessly blends khayal, abhang, and natya sangeet. Bhate gained national acclaim for his playback in the Marathi biopic Balgandharva, earning a National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. Beyond recordings, he remains a fixture at prestigious festivals such as the Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav and international venues. Balancing a parallel career in technology, he symbolizes the rare artist who successfully lives both tradition and modernity while inspiring the next generation of classical vocalists.
