Ghibran, born Mohammed Ghibran Vaibodha on August 12, 1980, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is an acclaimed Indian music composer known for his versatile work across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema. His early years were marked by hardship, as his family relocated to Chennai due to financial difficulties, requiring him to pause his formal education to support them. Inspired by seeing Yanni perform on television as a child, Ghibran pursued music passionately, studying privately and later completing the RSA Grade 8 piano and music theory exams from Trinity College London. He earned a degree in classical composition and film scoring from LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore, studying under Australian composer Lindsay Vickery. Ghibran began his career composing for over 700 commercials and animated films before making his film debut with the Tamil movie “Vaagai Sooda Vaa” in 2011. Renowned for his innovative soundscapes, he has since scored numerous successful films, including collaborations with Kamal Haasan on projects like “Vishwaroopam II,” “Uttama Villain,” and “Papanasam,” earning a reputation as one of India’s leading contemporary composers.
