GURBAX, born Kunaal Gurbaxani in Bengaluru, is one of India’s trailblazing bass‑music producers and DJs, known for fusing trap, electro‑hop, and Punjabi motifs into a global soundscape. Originally a punk and thrash guitarist, he discovered electronic music during college years in Atlanta and went on to define India’s bass music movement with breakout tracks like Boom Shankar, Aghori, and Aatank. In 2020, he became the first Indian trap artist to perform at Burning Man’s virtual edition—a milestone that placed him on an international stage with legends like Diplo. His debut album Rebirth (2022) features collaborations with global talents and explores genres from indie-pop to experimental sounds. Having performed at major festivals like VH1 Supersonic, NH7 Weekender, and Beyond, GURBAX is widely celebrated for energetic live sets and genre-bending creativity. Drawing from Indian and Western influences, he continues shaping the future of India’s bass and electronic music scene.
