Born on July 7, 1973, in Mayur Vihar, Delhi, Kailash Kher hails from a Kashmiri family with a rich musical heritage. His father, Mehar Singh Kher, was a traditional folk singer, which influenced Kailash’s early exposure to music. At the age of 14, he left home to pursue formal music training, studying Indian classical and folk music. Despite facing early challenges, including financial hardships and periods of depression, Kailash remained dedicated to his musical journey. In 2001, he moved to Mumbai to establish himself as a professional singer. His breakthrough came with the song “Allah Ke Bande,” which garnered widespread acclaim. Kailash is also the founder of the musical group Kailasa, known for blending traditional Indian music with contemporary sounds. Beyond his singing career, he has composed music for various Bollywood films and television shows. His versatility and unique vocal style have made him a prominent figure in the Indian music industry.
