Prateek Kuhad (born March 3, 1990, in Jaipur, Rajasthan) is an Indian singer‑songwriter and musician celebrated for his minimal indie‑folk compositions in both Hindi and English. He began learning guitar at 16 and later pursued a degree in Mathematics and Economics at New York University before relocating to Delhi to launch his music career. Kuhad released early EPs including Raat Raazi in 2013 and his debut album In Tokens & Charms in 2015, which earned accolades such as MTV Europe Music Award for Best India Act (2016) and recognition as iTunes’ Indian Indie Album of the Year. His 2018 EP cold/mess brought international breakthrough—including a spot on former U.S. President Barack Obama’s 2019 favorite music list—and led to a sold‑out North American tour. In 2020, he became the first Indian artist to sign with Elektra Records, and in 2022 launched his album The Way That Lovers Do. Renowned for introspective lyrics, warm vocals, and emotionally resonant live performances, Prateek has become a defining voice in modern indie music.
