Ram Miriyala, born on October 30, 1987, in Kolanka, Andhra Pradesh, is an acclaimed Indian playback singer, composer, record producer, and songwriter notable for his work in Telugu cinema. After completing a degree in commerce, Ram started his professional journey in the corporate sector as a tax consultant before following his deep-seated passion for music. He underwent two years of Carnatic music training which fueled his musical pursuits, and later joined Radio Mirchi as a promo producer. In 2018, Ram co-founded the popular music band Chowraasta with friends, aiming to reinvent Telugu folk music by incorporating reggae elements. The band gained immense popularity with socially relevant songs like “Oorellipota Mama” and “Maya,” and Ram was often referred to as Chowraasta Ram. His debut as a playback singer came with “Vagalaadi” in the film Brochevarevarura (2019), and he further cemented his fame by lending his voice to hits such as “Chitti” from Jathi Ratnalu, for which he won the SIIMA Award for Best Male Playback Singer – Telugu in 2022. Ram left Chowraasta in 2020 to focus on his independent career and continues to be celebrated for his versatile vocal style and ability to bring fresh fusion to Indian music.
