Srinivas, born Srinivasan Doraiswamy on November 7, 1959, in Ambasamudram, Tamil Nadu, is a celebrated Indian playback singer and composer renowned across Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi film industries. Srinivas initially trained in Carnatic music under his aunt and pursued a career as a chemical engineer before his passion for music prevailed. Inspired by hearing A.R. Rahman’s innovative music in “Roja,” he relocated to Chennai in 1993, starting with advertisement jingles and devotional albums. His breakthrough as a playback singer came with “Minsaara Poove” from the film “Padayappa,” earning him prestigious state awards. Srinivas is especially admired for his soulful, versatile voice and close collaborations with A.R. Rahman, contributing to memorable tracks like “En Uyire” and “Snehidhane.” With over 2,000 songs recorded, he has also successfully ventured into music composition, earning multiple accolades and recognition as one of South India’s most influential musical talents
