Born on June 14, 1971, in Kolkata, West Bengal, Pritam developed an early passion for music, influenced by his family’s musical background. He pursued his education at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, where he was actively involved in the college’s music scene. In 1997, he moved to Mumbai to further his career in the music industry. Pritam’s breakthrough came with the film Tere Liye (2001), marking his debut as a music director. He gained widespread acclaim with the Dhoom series, particularly Dhoom 2 (2006), which showcased his versatility and innovative approach to music composition. Over the years, Pritam has composed music for numerous successful films, including Barfi! (2012), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Dilwale (2015), and Dangal (2016). His work is characterized by a fusion of various musical genres, blending traditional Indian sounds with contemporary styles. Pritam has received several awards for his contributions to music, including the Filmfare Award for Best Music Album for Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva (2022).
