Born on November 8, 1947, in Mumbai, Usha Uthup began her musical career in the late 1960s. She gained prominence with her rendition of “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja” from the film Caravan (1971). Over the decades, she has recorded songs in multiple languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and English. Her unique voice and charismatic stage presence have made her a beloved figure in the Indian music industry. In 2011, she was honored with the Padma Shri, and in 2024, she received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.
